Main Idea of a exponential function:
|
An exponential function graph looks like it starts off slow then grows or decay rapidly. The graph typically starts very close on the x-axis. There are two types of exponential function, growth and decay. Decay is represented when the “b” value is less than one. Growth is represented when the “b” value is higher than one. The domain of an exponential function is all real numbers and the range is all positive real numbers except zero. Exponential functions are used in real life to determine population and money over a period of time.

Question #1: Starting at my child first birthday I gave him $20 and double it each following year. How old will my child be when I give him $2,000?
1. Make a Table
2. Find a exponential formula
3. Set the formula equal to $2,000 and solve.
$2000=10X2^B
2000 divide by 100 = 200
200=2^b
Log(200) divide by Log(2) = 7.684 round 8
10x2^8=$2,560
By my son eight birthday i will give him over $2,000 dollars.
